III. Jesus Falls the First Time
Previous Home Next

V. We adore thee, O Christ, and we bless thee.
R. Because by thy Holy Cross thou hast redeemed the world.

O MY people, what have I done unto thee, or wherein have I wearied thee? Testify against me. Because I brought thee forth from the land of Egypt: thou hast prepared a Cross for thy Saviour. I fed thee with manna in the wilderness forty years: and thou hast scourged me and delivered me up. What more could I have done for thee that I have not done?

V. He was led as a sheep to the slaughter.
R. And as a lamb before the shearers, so opened he not his mouth.

Let us pray.

KEEP us, we beseech thee, O Lord, with thy perpetual mercy: and because the frailty of man without thee cannot but fall; keep us ever by thy help from all things hurtful, and lead us to all things profitable to our salvation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

HYMN
Who on Christ's dear Mother gazing,
Torn by anguish so amazing,
Born of woman, would not weep?
