V. We adore thee, O Christ, and we bless thee.
R. Because by thy Holy Cross thou hast redeemed the world.
HE hath no form nor comeliness; he is despised and rejected of men,
and we esteemed him not. But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was
upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
V. Thou hast not turned thy face from us.
R. Neither given thy servants over unto thy displeasure.
Let us pray.
O GOD, who by the precious blood of thy Son, dost renew us after
thy likeness: order our goings in thy paths, that we may truly hold
fast to the holy gift of charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
HYMN
Saw her own sweet Offspring taken
And in death by all forsaken
While his spirit forth he sent.
